Advantageous Location and Convenient Transportation
Anhui is located in the deep hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, the most dynamic region in the mainland. It is not only the frontier influenced by the economic radiation and the industrial transfer from the advanced coastal regions, but also the bridgehead for China to implement the policies of the Great Development of West China and the Rising Strategy of Central China.
It enjoys the unique geographic advantage of connecting the east with the west and the south with the north. In a 500-kilometer radius with Hefei, the capital city, as the center, there are big cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuhan, with a total population of almost 500 million, accounting for nearly 40% of the national GDP.

Anhui has 6 airports, among which the 4E-Level Xinqiao International Airport has been put into operation. The railway mileage goes up to 2,900 kilometers, with high-speed railways constructed and under construction densest in China. By high-speed railway, it only takes 1 hour from Hefei to Nanjing, 2 hours to Wuhan, 3 hours to Shanghai and 4 hours to Beijing. The mileage of inland waterways in Anhui amounts to 5,596 km. Meanwhile, along the Yangtze River, there are over 380 berthages for ships with a carrying capacity of 1,000t or above, which ranks No. 1 central and western regions of China. The number of open ports approved by the State Council in Anhui reaches to 7, ranking No.1 in central China.
